I know, I know, having entered my 18th year as a mother and now raising 2 teens and 2 tweens what could I possibly want for Mother’s Day?
That’s easy – to be a man!
No, wait! I know we’re different – men are from Mars and women are just too gosh-darned-tired to even think about unpacking, again – however, I really do think I would make one mother of a husband!
My husband: “Can I get you anything?”
Me [sitting on the couch] : “Nuh-uh, I’m good – gonna head out to hammer up a couple of loose boards on the house, or something.”
My husband [lips quivering]: “Fine.”
Me: “What’d I say?”
My Husband: “I like to feel needed, too, you know.”
[adjusts pillows on couch, turns and walks out]
No, my husband Garth (not his real name) really doesn’t sound (or, isn’t) that needy. He does however; appreciate just how much I enjoy doing manly-type-hammer-and-drill-sort-of-things, too.
In fact this past Christmas, he gave me the perfect gift – my own household tool kit and no, there isn’t a touch of pink on it either! For anyone else out there, looking for a last minute Mother’s Day gift (or already thinking about Christmas…since the year is almost half over) I bet you dollars to donuts that Mom would probably be very happy with the gift of a little peace and quiet. Or maybe even the chance to get outside and you know, be allowed to hammer something, too.
Unless, she needs a new dress, then forget I said anything.
[clears throat]
As for my husband, Garth (not his real name) Happy Mother’s Day Hon! You ARE one mother of a Dad!
For other Mom’s who are not as traditional as me, it is a great idea to organize a playdate where your kids can get involved in the gift making fun! Have your kids and their friends make unique gifts for moms!
What are you requesting this year for a Mother’s Day gift?

I haven’t even really thought about Mother’s Day, yet. Everyone is going to be 20 different places on Sunday, though, but I guess I should give it some thought!
Or, at the very least, think about doing something you like and planning a little downtime for yourself, too, I know, what’s that, right? Happy Mother’s Day!!!
What? Mother’s Day is this week?
Actually, I believe some families may celebrate it, all month, at least, it’s what I’m telling my kids
Happy Mother’s Day!!!
